Project funded by: AHF/UN-OCHA - Duration:from 15-Oct-2025 to 14-Jul-2026

In response to the urgent health and nutrition needs following the recent earthquake in Kunar and Nangarhar provinces, the Health Disability and Development Organization (HDDO) has launched an inclusive humanitarian project focusing on two priority areas: expanding access to primary health care and promoting disability-inclusive services. The initiative deploys mobile health teams, a fixed and mobile rehabilitation center, and a sub-health center to provide essential services including physical rehabilitation, psychosocial counseling, and primary healthcare. It emphasizes gender-sensitive and disability-responsive care, ensuring access for women, girls, and persons with disabilities. Planned outputs include the production and repair of prostheses and orthoses, physiotherapy for 3,500 individuals, psychosocial counseling for 1,500 people, and primary healthcare services for 9,100 beneficiaries. Overall, the project aims to assist 15,850 individuals, enhancing resilience and reducing preventable morbidity and mortality in earthquake-affected communities of Kunar and Nangarhar.

In-kind Food assistance for the shocked-affected people in Nuristan Province Wama, Mandol and Bargimatal Districts
Project funded by: AHF/UN-OCHA - Duration:from 08-Jul-2025 to 07-Feb-2026

In response to Afghanistan’s escalating humanitarian crisis, with 22.9 million people projected to need aid in 2025, the Health Disability and Development Organization (HDDO) will implement an emergency food assistance project in Nuristan province. The project targets 2,010 vulnerable households—including 438 female-headed households and persons with disabilities—across Wama, Mandol, and Bargimatal districts. Each household will receive four rounds of in-kind food baskets covering 50% of monthly needs, benefiting approximately 14,070 individuals. Designed for areas with limited market access, the intervention aims to stabilize food consumption, prevent negative coping strategies, and strengthen resilience. Grounded in gender-sensitive and inclusive approaches, and coordinated with OCHA, FSAC, and WFP, the project directs 72% of its budget to beneficiaries, ensuring efficient and dignified food assistance for the most food-insecure communities in Nuristan
